Drop by on Saturdays between 10am and noon for free, high-quality programming for children and families – or visit anytime!
The Community Garden at St. Stephen’s is just that – a beautiful garden space, freely available to anyone in the broader community, with no strings attached. Tucked away just behind our Parish Hall, it’s a place where you can find a moment of quiet in the midst of busy downtown Vaughan, participate in gardening and other green programs, or take advantage of the free, environmentally focused children’s and family programming offered every weekend through the summer months.
It’s also a space where we grow healthy, local produce that we use in our weekly community meals, and give away to those in need. We always have gloves and hand tools available for anyone who wants to participate in the care of the garden.
The Community Garden is used for outdoor worship services and weddings, as well as for concerts, art displays, and other special events.
No matter who you are, or what your background, you’re welcome here. Feel free to drop in, linger if you like, and don’t be shy about getting your hands dirty.
Weekly Summer Programming
On Saturdays from 10am to noon, we offer free weekly events in the garden – from raising butterflies, to composting with worms, and garden-oriented crafts like pressing flowers and making decorative wreaths. We also have an exciting lineup of special guests like bee-keepers and children’s book illustrators.
Drinks and healthy snacks are always provided (free of charge), and the Community Garden features lots of shade, room for kids to colour, play with the sand table, or just run around to their heart’s content.
