The Reverend Mary Pataki
is our Honorary Assistant at St. Stephen’s, Maple.
Mary joined the ministry team in March, 2018 after serving in various parishes including St. Margaret’s New Toronto and Christ Church Brampton. She was ordained in 1998.
After a long career as a public school teacher and 10 years as a principal, Mary felt called to serve in a different capacity. On retiring she continued her studies at Wycliffe, enrolling fulltime in the M. Div. program. During this time her sense of a call to ordained ministry was confirmed.
Throughout her teaching experience Mary was drawn to the relationship between community and school and how their interaction was important for them both. She saw a similar dynamic at play between church and community and searched for ways to enhance that connection. She was delighted to discover the close relationship that has been developed between St. Stephen’s and the Maple community and has gladly joined in supporting activities such as the pantry and the community garden program.
Mary is a Spiritual Director and a grief counsellor, working with Bereaved Families of Ontario.
Mary enjoys spending time with family and friends. She has two adult children and is proud Grand-Mary to Marlo and Emma. She enjoys travel, live theatre, murder mysteries, Scrabble, cryptic crosswords, and her daily walks (in all weather conditions!).
