Matthew Neugebauer
is our Lay Pastoral Associate at St. Stephen’s, Maple.
Matthew first landed in the pews at St. Stephen’s for a brief spell in the summer of 2018, and returned the next fall, He quickly began contributing to the community as a volunteer, and was brought onto the staff team in the summer of 2020.
A lifelong student, he has an MTS in Urban and International Development and a Certificate in Anglican Studies from Wycliffe College, and an MA in Theology from Regis College. He has served student placements in Toronto and Edmonton, and a full-time lay curacy in rural Alberta.
Matthew has a passion for teaching, preaching, liturgy and engaging conversation. He relishes the opportunity to journey with people as they deepen their encounter with and understanding of God, themselves and the world around us, even as that journey is walked in the pulpit, across a dinner table, on a smartphone, behind a computer screen and everywhere in between.
His interests extend to his presence among fellow Star Wars and soccer fans in the Toronto area and wherever social media takes him. He has a Christianity and Sci-fi podcast, does his best to catch every Toronto FC game, and enjoys the visual connectivity of Instagram at @mneug1138.
